Internships/Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in interning or volunteering at the Catholic Historical Research Center (CHRC) of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia which serves to collect, preserve, and make available to the public the historical records documenting the growth and development of Catholicism within the Archdiocese of Philadelphia.
CHRC only accepts as many interns and volunteers as we have the time to train and supervise.
INTERNS
CHRC is currently seeking individuals who wish to gain practical experience in a professional archival setting. Projects may include processing manuscript collections, cataloging photographs and pamphlets, and re-housing manuscript and print materials.
Start date, scheduling, and duration are flexible, but the intern should be willing to commit to a minimum of 8 hours per week for 10 weeks. Internships are currently unpaid, but CHRC is willing to work with the applicant’s institution to arrange course credit.
Requirements:
For internships, CHRC gives preference to candidates who are currently enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate-level program in library science or public history with a concentration or course work in archival management. All prospective interns must be detail-oriented and have strong research, writing, and communication skills. Interested candidates must submit a resume and three references.
